C22 Fleet 69 Activities and Events

Fleet 69 Activities

Minutes: January Kickoff meeting;
1. First item - The Airing of Grievances: Discussion - none worthy of recording
2. Beer was passed out to those worthy of such.
3. Election of officers;
Treasurer: Wade Bingaman. Who could we trust more that a lawyer?
Measurer: Roy Crouse. Who could be accurate than an advertizing agent?
Photographer/Webmaster: John Grznich. Artistic computer geek?
Fleet Captain: Art Bussey. Who could be more organized than one with diagnoses of ADHD, OCD, dyslexic, and sometimers?
In others words, the prefect blend of interest and competency.
4. Spin or no. Long discussion on this with a consensus that the first series, Frostbite, would be Genoa . Other series would include Genoa races depending on interest demonstrated by the number boats showing up to race Genoa . And it goes without saying any boat can choose to race Genoa at any time they wish.
5. Post race get together. AYC is trying to get all members to meet and greet. Food and beer open to all offered at the clubhouse after Frostbite. Decision to join the rest of the club after races, unless there is no such event and then we (C-22) would have our own Marg's and nosh after an event.
6. Race Committee - Good participation by C-22 members in this in the past with same expected. 2010 racing schedule not posted at time of meeting, save Frostbite Series. Possible PRO's for 2010; Bingaman, Ted Owens, Dane, Johannnes.
7. Dues - Same as previous years. $50 per boat owner, $25 for crew. Wade passed out a Financial Report itemizing expenditures for 2009. There is a remaining balance of $32 after all expenses from 2009. Forward your checks, cash, and/or chickens to Wade. Address, 9204 Creek's Edge Circle . Austin, 78733. Funds are used for beverages, parties, and other social type events for our C-22 Fleet members.
8. Social events - The Xmas party was very well attended demonstrating an interest in such events. Ted and Barbara Owens offered to host a future social event. Look for additional parties this Spring and beyond.
9. Fleet building strategies - What are the factors we can impact, which would increase participation by other C-22 owners? Boat mechanically not ready to race. Crew not available. Boat owners not competitive/competent. Agreement that greater participation by current AYC C-22 boat owners is the best way to increase participation and grow our fleet. Griz agreed to survey the club for all those with C -22s and develop a list for us to contact. Those more involved would engage other Fleet members to help repair their boats. There will be a Fix Up date between the Frostbite Series and the Spring Series with help for those who wish to get their boats ready. Those more successful sailors will participate with other boats to teach and otherwise help less experienced crews to improve.
