I’d like to announce that a great opportunity has opened for Spencer LeGrande to go back to college in Miami. He’s been contemplating this opportunity for a long while now, and he’s finally decided to make the move. We all want to thank Spencer for all of his hard work and the enthusiasm that he’s brought to the sport of sailing. He’s done a great job and he’s made numerous important contributions to youth sailing at AYC. Spencer will be leaving in July, and while we will be sad to see him go, we wish him the absolute best. Spencer wishes to thank AYC for giving him the opportunity to learn, teach, and make many friends here.
We’re thrilled to announce that Spencer is passing the baton to Emily Verdoia who has worked side by side with him since the summer of 2019. Emily was the 2019 Co-Summer Camp Director and then was promoted to Assistant Sailing Coach. She’s been supporting Spencer with Opti II & III instruction and boat maintenance.
Emily and Spencer will be “Co-Youth Directors” effective immediately. When Spencer moves on in July, Emily will transition into the full time position of AYC’s Youth Sailing Director, and will lead our youth sailing going forward. We’re confident that youth sailing will continue to be in great shape with these changes. Please wish Emily well, and give her lots of support in her new position.
